These glorious blue, handmade bowls with a black base are satisfyingly chunky - and fascinating to look at
They have been created using the Raku technique, made famous in the 1580s by the Japanese for their tea bowls. The "cracked" finish is created with the Raku technique of plunging the bowl into straw, immediately after taking it out of the kiln, sparking fire.
